Alarming Recording Shows Point Officers Get Knifed in Unexpected Assault
One senior officer who jumped to the aid of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a knife attacker received the King's Commendation for Courage.
Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a knife to the neck of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the law enforcement personnel and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver after a traffic accident in the area in mid-2023.
Brown knifed and cut both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a Taser.
"Officer attacked," the constable was heard to say over his communication device.
Bodyworn and vehicle camera footage shared by the agency showed Brown, that was clothed in black with a head covered, approach to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a knife pointed forward.
He collided with the officer who stumbled and dropped to the street, after which Sgt Ansell jumped in and tried to wrestle him to the ground although being multiple times hit with the knife.
PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a open target, concluding the confrontation to an end.
Sergeant Ansell was heard stating: "Please provide assistance on my throat now, I got knifed in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell sustained multiple deep cuts to his throat and additional wounds to his limbs and body, while Sergeant Foster received cut injuries.
Officials said Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to stem his colleague's bleeding prior to emergency responders reached the scene.
The latest honor comes after the trio of policemen were granted organizational Courage Honors in October 2023 and the police federation award from the area Police Federation in April 2024.
They additionally received a Area Bravery Award in summer 2024.
"The actions of each policeman eventually protected each other and ensured no civilians experienced any injuries."
Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, as stated by authorities.
